Sheetala Ashtami is celebrated on the eighth day of Krishna Paksha (the waning moon) in the Hindu month of Chaitra,and thus falls eight days after Holi.

Theej

In Month of August, Gors celebrate Theej festival. An unmarried woman celebrates this with the wish of getting a good husband.

Ugadi / Aatam

This festival is celebrated by about half of the gor families. This festival is similar to the ‘Dasarao’ but it is the celebration of offerings to the family deities.

 

Holi

This festival is celebrated in all the gor households. It is refered to as ‘Holi’ and is celebrated with so much fun and devotion. The celebration involves various activities like singing and dancing and raising funds for various activities. Important of them is to do a big campfire to celebrate the triumph of good over evil.This festival is also one of the biggest ones to be celebrated by Gor families.

Dusera(Dasrao)

This festival is celebrated in almost all the gor households. It is refered to as ‘Dasarao’ and is celebrated mostly on the day of Vijaya Dashami, to mark the triumph of good over evil. The Godess ‘Tolja Bhavani’ is offered with animal(goat/lamb/chicken) sacrifices. This festival is one of the biggest ones to be celebrated by Gor families.
